About

Welcome to Car-Free Vancouver, a blog celebrating car-free living in Metro Vancouver. I’m a Gen Y’er who has never owned a car, although I confess that I sometimes spend too much time as a passenger in cars when I visit family in Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Texas.

At home in Vancouver, I walk, ride my bike and take transit to get almost everywhere. I value each of these modes of transportation and will focus on all of them and others in my Car-Free Vancouver posts. Occasionally, I will write about car sharing as I consider this a good alternative to car ownership and a realistic starting point for many urbanites who are considering giving up their private vehicles.

While I’m nearly always car free, I’m also a museum librarian, lover of the arts, an avid movie watcher and one who dabbles (in the past few years I’ve taken photography, cooking, sewing, Spanish and Japanese lessons). I’m a member of the Car Free Vancouver Society but all views expressed on this site are entirely my own. Vancouver has been my home since 2005.
