Friday, September 16th is PARK(ing) Day, an annual, worldwide event that invites citizens everywhere to transform metered parking spots into temporary parks for the public good. Last year 850 PARKs were created in 183 cities!
Get your friends, family or colleagues together on Friday to turn a parking spot in Metro Vancouver into a lively community space. Create. Play. Communicate. On PARK(ing) Day we celebrate people spaces.
If you don’t have time to make your own PARK, then drop by the Vancouver Public Space Network’s street-side recreation room, which will be set-up between 9:00-5:00 on Friday at West 8th Avenue at Cambie Street. Get all the details on the VPSN’s PARK(ing) Day event page.
Have a very happy PARK(ing) Day and it’s never too early to start planning what you’ll create for next year now that the PARK(ing) Day organizers have produced a manual and other resources to help you reclaim your cities.
